Pere Ariza-Montobbio is a PhD candidate on ecological economics and political ecology. His research experience is based on field work in Tamil Nadu, South India and Catalonia. He has done research on the social perception and the multi-functionality of rain water harvesting systems as ecosystems for decentralised water management. He has made, as well, and integrated assessment of the impacts of Jatropha curcas plantations for biodiesel on livelihood and food sovereignty at local level. His inter-disciplinary research focuses on the social metabolism linked to the socio-ecological process of urbanisation and its energetic, spatial and territorial consequences, as well as the conflicts for land use. the conflicts for land use.
